Our Initiatives

What We Do: Our Centers of Operation

We support five centers of operations to achieve our mission of preserving and cultivating the heritage and culture of Heber Valley.

Our mission is to provide resources and direction to governmental agencies and other organizations regarding historic preservation and cultural awareness of the rich history of Heber Valley. We provide consulting support for cultural and historic preservation and community enrichment by enlisting community involvement and volunteerism. We are the source of historical information and a repository for the history of Heber Valley, providing for the restoration of ideals, models, and ethics of the founding fathers of our valley.

Center 1: Heber Valley Research and Discovery Center

The mission of the Heber Valley Research and Discovery Center is to physically survey and list all historic homes, buildings, and historic sites. In addition, our aim is to discover back stories behind buildings and sites currently standing and those long gone. We also catalog stories and histories of founding fathers and all those who have come afterwards.

Center 2: Dr. R. Raymond Green Community Digitizing Center

The mission of the Dr. R. Raymond Green Community Digitizing Center is to be a place where all community members can bring their family histories, documents, memorabilia, tapes, films, and all other historical records  they “don’t know what to do with.” Volunteer Service Hosts will be available to assist in this work at the Digitizing Center, or at community members’ homes.

The Digitizing Center is located at the corner of 500 S and 200 W in Heber City, next to the Regional Family History Center.

Center 3: Living History Sites & Interpretive Centers

The mission of the Living History Sites and Interpretive Centers is to provide our community members, both new and old, a significant user experience– or what some call a “sacred space experience”– when visiting historical sites in Heber Valley. We want visitors to experience, learn from, and understand our ancestors and what they did to establish the community we so dearly love.

Center 4: Community Digital Archive and User Experience Center

We provide a facility where volunteers digitally store all information submitted to the Dr. R. Raymond Green Community Digitizing Center. We aim to make this information readily available to the general public in an easily searched, indexed, and visual way.

Center 5: Community Audio/ Visual Production Studio

We provide a center for production of mini documentaries, micro histories, podcasts, monument signs, pageants, historic plays, community reunions, and all other visual presentations and productions.
